Review 404 Page Recommendations

404 Page Recommendations

Use this checklist to verify that your 404 page recommendations render and behave as expected.

Introduction

Before you start testing your Hello Retail setup, log in to your account: https://my.helloretail.com/company/signin.html

After logging in, go to your website to start the review.

Note

Product recommendation boxes are not visible to customers until you click Make Live. This allows you to review changes without exposing them to visitors.

Some browsers block cross-site tracking by default. If you cannot see the Hello Retail panel widget, allow third-party cookies or disable tracking prevention in your browser while testing.

Step 1

Open a non-existing URL to trigger your 404 page. For example, append random letters or numbers to your site URL.

Step 2

Enable Live Test for your recommendation boxes.

  1. Make sure you are on your 404 page.
  2. Click the Hello Retail icon at the bottom-left to open the Hello Retail panel.
  3. Navigate to Product Boxes, then toggle Show on for the recommendation boxes you want to preview.
  4. Close the panel by clicking the Hello Retail icon again.
  5. Refresh the page in your browser (Mac CMD+R, Windows CTRL+R).

Step 3

If a recommendation uses a slider, verify it renders and scrolls correctly.

Step 4

Verify that colors match your site styles.

Step 5

Verify that prices use the same format and currency as the rest of the website.

Step 6

Verify that the boxes are placed correctly within your 404 template.

Step 7

Verify that badges display correctly, for example New or On sale.

Step 8

If your recommendations include a buy button, verify that the buy buttons work as intended.

Note

For products with multiple variants, the buy button should redirect to the master product page.

Final Step

When you have checked that every recommendation box on the 404 page works as expected, you can push your recommendations live.

Open the Hello Retail panel, navigate to Product Boxes, select the recommendations you want to publish, and click Make Live.
