Why should I use product recommendations in my newsletters?

Using Hello Retail product recommendations in newsletters helps you deliver relevant, individualized content in each email.

Relevance is critical for email performance. Dynamic recommendations add visual content, personalize the experience, and can increase click-through rates.


How does it work?

When visitors browse your site, Hello Retail records behavior and preference signals. We map relationships between products based on this behavior and use these relationships to power recommendations.

Because we monitor behavior across all users on your site, we can predict which products are most relevant to each recipient and recommend them accordingly.

You can insert these recommendations into your newsletters and other marketing emails. When recipients open the email, they see your content (images, copy, and design) plus a set of recommendations tailored to them.


What if a product has just sold out – will it be shown?

Recommendations are generated when the recipient opens the email, so the content reflects current availability and pricing.

After the first open, the products shown in the recommendation tiles are locked for that recipient. If they reopen the same email later, the tiles will not change.

If needed, you can choose to clear locked products for a specific campaign. This forces the system to assign new products the next time the email is opened.


Can I choose how and what my newsletters should look like?

Yes. You have full control over the design in your email service provider. Hello Retail generates unique product recommendations for each recipient. Log in to your Hello Retail business account to configure the design and format of the recommendation banners (also called tiles).


Can I choose what sort of recommendations to display?

Yes. You can choose from several recommendation types:

  • Retargeting – shows the latest products the user viewed on your site.
  • Products on sale – shows discounted products.
  • Most popular products in the recipient’s favourite category – shows top-purchased products in the category where the user has spent the most time.
  • Hello Retail recommendations – shows the most relevant products based on user behavior, overall popularity, and trending signals.

Will recipients get new products in every newsletter?

Yes. Hello Retail tracks what has been recommended and automatically filters out products from the last ten campaigns that are not older than one month. This reduces repetition and keeps content fresh.
