Set up a Rolling campaign

This guide explains how to create and configure a Rolling campaign for Newsletter Content that delivers personalized product recommendations in transactional emails.

Prerequisite

Before you can create a campaign, you must first create a design for the newsletter content. To learn how, click here. When your design is ready, proceed with this guide.


Create a rolling campaign

  1. Start by logging into your Hello Retail account. In the dashboard, open the left-hand menu. Under the Email section, click Newsletter Content to expand the menu.
  2. From the expanded menu, click Rolling campaigns.
  3. Click the Create new rolling campaign button.

Name, design, products and frenquency

  • Provide a name.
  • Select your design.
  • Choose the number of product recommendations to display in this campaign.
  • Set the desired unlock frequency in days.
  • Click Create when you have completed the setup.

The unlock frequency controls when a user becomes eligible to see recommendations from the same rolling campaign again. After the set number of days, a user can receive fresh recommendations.


Fixed products

Under Fixed products, you can pin specific products to display to all users, regardless of their browsing or purchase history.

Use this to highlight new items or products you want to promote, for example due to high stock. You can apply fixed products for all unknown users only, or exclude specific products for all users.


Recommendation strategy

In this step, choose the Recommendation strategy for your rolling campaign.

You can choose among the following options:

  • Related to users' interest and previous purchased products: Promote relevant products based on user interests and previous purchases. Useful for up-selling.
  • Promote users previously purchased products: Re-display items a user has purchased before. Useful for high-repeat-purchase products.
  • Promote products on sales: Prioritize relevant products that are on sale.
  • Classic retargeting: Prioritize products the user has visited, and related items.
  • Click Customize to build your own strategy with ordered steps. The first step has the highest priority.

Once you have selected your preferred algorithm (recommendation strategy), click Save.


UTM settings

If you use Google Analytics, you can configure UTM parameters. You can read more about UTM parameters here.

You can keep the defaults or customize them.


Code snippet

Under Code snippet, select your newsletter platform. A code snippet will be generated that renders the product recommendations you include in your emails.

Copy this snippet into the template of your transactional emails in your email platform. Click Save to save the campaign.


Finalising the setup of your rolling campaign

After completing the steps above, your rolling campaign becomes active when saved. Verify that your newsletter platform is selected correctly and click "Save".
