In this guide, you can read and learn about how to configure the search engine to fit with your webshop.


Search Engine

As a part of the search functionality, it is possible to easily modify the settings controlling the search engine used for your webshop. In that way, you can be in control of the search behavior that the visitors on your webshop will be experiencing. 

As a part of this configuration, you can weigh the priority of a selection of key product data attributes as well as specify the desired outcome of the search results.

Types

There are 5 types of search engines:

  • Product search engine: default
  • Category search engine
  • Site page search engine
  • Blog post search engine
  • Brand search engine

Within each of these search engine types, you can edit for:

  • Search settings
  • Fixed products
  • Removed products

Search Settings

You can weigh the priority and adjust the search relevance of the following product data attributes:

  • Product popularity: algorithmically calculated product popularity score based on all your webshop visitors browsing and purchasing patterns.
  • Title: the actual title of the product in your webshop.
  • Keywords: the specified keywords of the product in your webshop.
  • Description: the description of the product in your webshop.
  • Product number
  • Brand: the product brand name for each product (if this data attribute is available)

Boosted Products

On top of this, you can also control the search behavior:

  • Include products that are out of stock, you can choose if you would like products out of stock to show up in search results or not.
  • Include approximate matches or Require full phrase match, "approximate matches" are fuzzy matching the search term to find similar or lookalike words where "full phrase match" are matching exact words and phrases.
  • Split compound words in search, are using our default dictionary to split compound words, to extend the search results.

Changing settings here will affect search on a personal level and provide better results based on the individual user behavior.

How to Edit the Search Settings

  1. Start by logging into your Hello Retail account. On the dashboard view, navigate to the left-hand side menu. Under the On-site section, click on Search to unfold the drop-down menu.
  2. Next, from the drop-down menu, click on Search Engines.
  3. In this view, you can the list of the different search engines and click on the ones that you would like to Edit.
